The Town of Stanley is preparing an Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Plan and seeks input from realtors, landlords, renters, homebuyers, residents, businesses and other agencies about the impediments and potential solutions to fair housing issues in the Town. To help create this plan, the Town is hosting a Fair Housing Meeting at 113 E College Street at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. All residents, particularly low-income or public housing tenants, are invited to attend.
The Town of Stanley is committed to furthering fair housing efforts by promoting fair and equal housing opportunities for its residents. The Town encourages potential homeowners and renters to be aware of their rights under the National Fair Housing Law. Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, prohibits discrimination against any person on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status or national origin in the sale or rental of units in the housing market.
Attendees will have the opportunity to take home fair housing information from the meeting, including materials made available in Spanish.
